8.7. Adjustment of the mechanism of a steering

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. To establish forward wheels in the provision of movement of the car on a straight line.
2. To screw an adjusting bolt 1 approximately on 20 ° (2 – a case of the mechanism of a steering).
3. To make a trial trip. If the steering wheel after turn does not come back to the central situation, gradually to turn on an adjusting bolt 1, to achieve return of a steering wheel to this situation. If it will be noticed люфт, it is necessary to twist gradually an adjusting bolt 1 before complete elimination люфта.
Prevention

If the above described adjustment it is impossible to achieve demanded result, it means that the steering mechanism is faulty and demands repair.


Adjustment of the mechanism of a steering (a steering with the hydraulic booster)

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. To remove the steering mechanism from the car (see subsection 8.8).
2. To clamp the steering mechanism in a vice with sponges from soft metal.
3. To weaken a lock-nut 2 (1 – an adjusting bolt; 3–case of the mechanism of a steering).
4. To twirl an adjusting bolt 1 by means of a special key until then when the gear lath can be rotated without effort a hand.
5. To twirl a lock-nut 2.
6. To establish the steering mechanism (see subsection 8.8).
