8.2. Steering draft

Removal

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. To disconnect a wire from the "minus" plug of the storage battery.
2. To enclose whetstones under back wheels.
3. To weaken bolts of fastening of wheels.
4. To raise a forward part of the car and to establish it on support.
5. To remove wheels.
6. To measure length of a carving of the external spherical hinge 15 acting from under a nut 1, and to write down it (see fig. Steering mechanism).
7. To turn off a nut of 1 external spherical hinge 15.
8. Выпрессовать external spherical hinge 15 of steering draft.
9. To remove a collar 5 from an antisplash cover 6.
10. To pull together an antisplash cover 6 from a flange 24 cases of the steering mechanism and to shift it.
11. To turn off a lock-nut 7 and to note paint the provision of an end face of the internal hinge 4 on a carving of a gear lath 8.
12. To turn off the internal spherical hinge 4 and to remove draft 2 or 13.
13. To remove an antisplash cover 6 and a collar 5 from steering draft.

Installation

Prevention

The damaged steering drafts are not subject to repair and should be surely replaced.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. To adjust length of the right steering draft the 13th tip the 16th helmsman of draft, having turned off a lock-nut 14. The length of the right steering draft 13 should make 379 mm (381 mm for an automatic transmission). To tighten a lock-nut the 14th moment of 35 N · m.
2. The left steering draft established at manufacturer, is not regulated. At replacement the adjustable draft which length should be adjusted to length of old, noncontrollable draft is established.
3. To tighten a lock-nut of new steering draft the moment of 35 N · m.
4. To establish a gear lath so that both its ends left a case on equal distance.
5. To examine attentively antisplash cover 6 and at the slightest damage to replace it.
6. To put on steering draft a new collar 5 and an antisplash cover 6.
7. To twirl the internal spherical hinge 4 to a mark made earlier on a carving of a gear lath 8, or on distance and = 70,5 mm (see fig. Steering mechanism).
8. To tighten a lock-nut the moment of 35 N · m.
9. To press the external spherical hinge 15 in the lever of a rotary fist.
Prevention

Each time at installation of steering draft it is necessary to use a new nut of 1 external spherical hinge.
10. To twirl a nut 1 for the length measured earlier, the moment of 35 N · m.
11. To put on an antisplash cover 6 a flange 24 cases of the steering mechanism, and other end – on a cut of the rubber plug 3.
12. To establish a collar 5 on an antisplash cover 6.
13. To adjust a convergence of forward wheels (see subsection 9.1.7).
