3.2.2. Frequency of idling and the maintenance of an oxide of carbon in the fulfilled gases

GENERAL INFORMATION

Considering complexity of system of injection of fuel, it is not recommended to regulate independently frequency of rotation of idling of the engine and the contents WITH in the fulfilled gases. Adjustment is better for carrying out at service stations of the Volkswagen cars having for this purpose the special equipment.

Check and adjustment carry out on the heated-up engine every moment of ignition and serviceable system of production of the fulfilled gases.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. To start the engine and to leave to idle, while the temperature of oil will not reach 80°С. Thus to watch, that the temperature of cooling liquid did not exceed normal since during check and adjustment the fan of system of cooling should be switched off.
2. To muffle the engine, to disconnect everything consumers of energy (headlights, a radio tape recorder, the conditioner etc.).
3. To disconnect and muffle a stopper a hose of ventilation of a case.
4. To connect a control tachometer and a gas analyzer.
5. To start the engine and to leave to idle. If топливоприводы were disconnected from nozzles or are replaced new before check and adjustment of frequency of rotation of idling, to increase frequency to 3000 mines-1, then to leave the engine to idle during 2 mines prior to the beginning of check and adjustment.
6. To check frequency of rotation of idling, it should be within 900–1000 mines-1 for release cars to 09.1984 g, 800–1000 mines-1 for release cars from 09.1984 g, 850–1000 mines-1 for the cars equipped with the conditioner. If frequency of rotation differs from specified, to adjust it the screw 20 (see fig. The air filter and an inlet pipe of the engine with system of injection of fuel).
7. To check level of the maintenance of an oxide of WITH carbon in the fulfilled gases, it should equal 0,5–1,5 %. If level WITH differs from specified, to adjust it. For this purpose to take out a cap from the case of a measuring instrument 4 consumption of air and the screw 5 to adjust the contents WITH in the fulfilled gases. To increase the contents WITH, it is necessary to rotate the screw 5 clockwise to reduce – counter-clockwise. At rotation it is impossible to press the screw: it can cause moving of a plate of a measuring instrument of a consumption of air and affect adjustment.
8. To take out the tool from an opening in the case of a measuring instrument 4 and to increase frequency of rotation for some seconds. It is impossible to increase frequency of rotation if the tool for turn of the screw 5 will not take out from the case of a measuring instrument 4 since it can clamp in the case. To check the contents WITH in the fulfilled gases.
9. To check and if it is necessary to adjust frequency of rotation of idling.
