Wheel cylinder of a drum-type brake

Replacement of brake cuffs of the wheel cylinder


Prevention

Replacement of brake cuffs of the wheel cylinder at visible smudges of brake liquid make without removal of the cylinder from the car.


PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. To remove a drum and brake shoes (see subsection 10.10).
2. To press brake hoses.
3. To turn out the valve 10 (see fig. Wheel cylinder of a drum-type brake) production of air.
4. To remove by means of a screw-driver protective caps 1 and 8.
5. To take out from the cylinder case 5 two pistons 2 and 7 with brake cuffs 3 and 6 and a spring 4.
6. To wash out water with detergent all details and the cylinder and to dry them.
7. To examine working surfaces of pistons and the cylinder.

Prevention

At existence on working surfaces of the piston and the cylinder of wear tracks, jammings and забоин to replace the wheel cylinder in a set.


8. To put on pistons 2 and 7 new protective caps 1 and 8, having greased them with brake liquid.
9. To put on pistons 2 and 7 new brake cuffs 3 and 6 in pro-points on pistons, having greased them with brake liquid, thus the working edge of cuffs should be directed in the cylinder.
10. To insert pistons 2 and 7 with a spring 4 into the case 5 of the wheel cylinder.
11. To insert edges of protective caps 1 and 8 into the corresponding nests on the case 5 of the wheel cylinder.
12. To establish brake shoes and a drum (see subsection 10.10).

Removal of the wheel cylinder

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. To remove a brake drum (see subitem 1–7 subsections 10.10).
2. To press brake hoses.
3. To turn out the valve 10 of production of air.
4. To remove a tip of a brake hose from the wheel cylinder.
5. To turn off bolts 26 (see fig. Back drum-type brake) fastenings of the wheel cylinder 19.
6. To put forward slightly on itself brake shoes by means of a screw-driver and to remove the wheel cylinder.

Installation of the wheel cylinder

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. To establish the wheel cylinder 19 and to twirl bolts 26.
2. To press into place brake shoes.
3. To weaken valve 10 fastening (see fig. The wheel cylinder of a drum-type brake) production of air if the new wheel cylinder is established.
4. To establish a tip of a brake hose on the wheel cylinder and to fix it.
5. To remove a clip from a brake hose.
6. To wait, while brake liquid will start to follow from an opening in the wheel cylinder under the valve of production of air, and to twirl the valve of production of air.
7. To establish a brake drum (see subitem 13–18 subsections 10.10).
